Take a private guided trip back in time…The serene East MacDonnell Ranges are  truly the hidden highlight of Central Australia.  Feel immersed in the rugged and remote ranges all around you as we guide you into the past.

This tour begins with a visit to Emily Gap early in the morning, to view ancient aboriginal rock art paintings. The paintings depict the story of the Caterpillar Dreaming, which is central to the  MacDonnell ranges region.

Following the wheelbarrow way, the next stop is Corroboree Rock. Enjoy a short walk around this billion-year-old seafloor remnant, followed by morning tea in the shade of the pillar. Share in the stories of the first European Settlers looking for gold in the East!

Next we travel to Trephina Gorge, with its sheer quartzite cliffs either side of the river redgum-lined watercourse.  Here you can chose between 3 walks - a gentle stroll up the riverbed ;  the more adventurous rim walk; or the more challenging panorama walk, with magnificent views of the gorge and surrounding landscape.  On leaving the nature park we make a quick stop at the country’s largest recorded ghost gum, Mr Handsome.

By now your're hungry! We unpack you a delicious homemade lunch in the Trephina Gorge day use picnic area. Grab a chair and sit under the cool of a river red gum.

After Lunch, it time to treat you to an ice cream at Ross River Resort where you have the opportunity to explore the original homestead, with its pioneering pastoral history.  In the winter you have time to soak up the warmth of the wood fire, and in the summer take a dip in the pool to cool off before the afternoons' activities.

After lunch we follow the Binns track through arguably the most scenic drive in Central Australia, following the Ross River through ancient rock uplifts, sea beds and spinifex plains, to N'Dhala Gorge, where you will experience a 6ha nature reserve with the highest concentration of ancient Aboriginal petroglyphs in Central Australia.
Sit back and reflect on your time in the East as you travel back along the ranges and into Alice Springs.

This tour can be tailored to suit any activity level, from the experienced walker to those wanting a more relaxed pace to enjoy the beauty the East has to offer.
